Walking an Italian Greyhound is a delight when you plan around two things: their instinct to chase and their sensitivity to cold. Because they are hardwired to pursue small, fast-moving animals, they are safest on a leash unless they are inside a fully fenced area where they can open up and run. When the temperature drops, a well-fitted coat is not a fashion choice but a genuine comfort measure, keeping your slender companion warm and happy on every outing.
What temperature is too hot or too cold for a Italian Greyhound?
Too hot — Below 26 °C a walk is usually comfortable. From 26 °C, shorten it, keep to the shade and bring water. From 32 °C, it is better to wait for a cooler hour.
Too cold — Above 5 °C a walk is usually fine. Between −5 °C and 5 °C keep it short and dry the paws afterwards. At −5 °C and below, only go out for potty breaks.
